I use acrylic paint on stretched canvas as well as digital drawing and painting techniques. Prints of both the digital artwork and copies of the original paintings I create will be embellished with acrylic paint. My work in terms of subject matter includes abstract portraiture, landscapes based in both nature and fantasy, and designs reflecting cultural and spiritual subject matter.

I am a Mississippi-native artist that has been selling my art since 2015. The medium I use most frequently is acrylic with watercolor being a close second. I really enjoy highly saturated colors and chunky textures for my subjective and more abstract works as well. To get the texture I like most, I like to get a 1.5 inch palette knife and use a kind of wet-on-wet paint technique. Once the first layer dries a bit, I will dip back into a color and lightly drag the knife against the strokes already on the canvas. It almost makes a bark-like texture. I will repeat this technique layer by layer until I feel the painting is done. I use this for my abstracts, but it also adds nice detail to buildings or trees in my subjective pieces. I used this technique when painting the the buildings/streets in the painting of the Bin 612 . To paint the crowds of people in the Bin painting, I used the palette knife technique to map out the height and shapes of the bunches of people then while the paint was still wet, I very roughly and quickly would add greater detail with the smallest brush I owned. I painted the flowered bulldog painting very similarly, blending and adding all of the detail while all of the paint was wet. The wave crash painting was a longer process so not much of it was wet-on-wet but the ocean has always been a huge inspiration to me so I was determined to somehow find a technique to create the movement I was looking for. I used a mix of palette knife techniques and finger painting to finish this piece pff. Although it was hard to capture in the photo, I tapped gesso onto the edges of the wave rapidly to make the sea foam highly textured. Acrylic pouring is also a love of mine, coating all of my pours in resin to create the beautiful glass finish I adore. I pour on canvases as well as trays, dough bowls and anything else I can get my hands on. I use a mixture of water, Floetrol and silicon occasionally into a cup with my paint to create the most ideal thickness for pouring the paint. Then carefully torch the painting to pop any air bubbles in the paint to release beautiful cells that can create a nice lacing effect. Whenever I am lacking acrylic inspiration or am not in my studio with the ability to be as messy as I prefer, I always have my watercolors to fall back on. Watercolor portraits such as the one I submitted have been my favorite recently and most frequently commissioned pieces. Other top sellers such as personalized and seasonal wine glasses can be found on the highlights of my Instagram page (the website I provided). The Cotton District Art festival was the first art festival I ever attended my junior year of high school and I have gone every year since (I am now 21). It is my absolute favorite, and it has always been a dream of mine to have my own booth at CDA.

Finding fresh originality in the rich tradition of southern art is the #1 priority of Cracker Jack Art Supply. Some of the themes explored have included such topics as luck, religion, southern fiction writers, family, rattlesnake rodeos, vintage roadside attractions, old board games, and interactive works. Through the use of shadow boxes, found objects, rust and wood, my main goal and reward is sharing the laughter and smiles guests experience when visiting.

I plan on doing free pet caricatures to promote my painted personalized pet portraits while also displaying various other paintings (bulldogs, landscapes, flowers, etc.) with my sister-in-law Alex. We both mostly work in acrylic on canvas. We may also sell some succulents for fun! We did this several years ago and enjoyed the show very much.

Standing before an easel, I consider myself a portrait artist, though I usually paint places and objects in oil. In my mind, if I successfully capture personality, attitude and individuality when painting a chair, it IS a “portrait” of that chair. My work is realistic, but with an “in-your-face” attitude. I depend on rich color, texture and high contrasts to define desirable traits and give imagery a voice. These “portraits” also capture my attitude and individuality as an artist. They are works of my will and my heart, making a statement and begging to be heard though “listening” eyes.

Marbling is the process of floating fabric paints on the surface of a thick cellulose solution. The floating paints can be swirled into patterns, and then you capture your design by laying a treated 100 % silk scarf down on top of the paint to transfer the swirls to the fabric. This booth is a hands-on activity for festival attendees.
Gyotaku is the art of printing fish, but we take it a step further by painting the impression into life-like portraits with acrylic on cotton canvas. Each is custom framed. https://www.facebook.com/wes.neal.733 |

I mainly use gouache paints as a medium of my artworks. For some of my old artworks, I used color pencils to express details. When painting, I focus on capturing moments and emotions, then I portray them on papers. I never learned to paint before, so I don't have any specific skills or techniques. What I do is just to hold on to my brush and don't finish my painting until they are 'complete,' then they will turn into something great. I can say me and my painting constantly interacting with each other until it is finished.

I paint with mostly acrylic paints on canvas; however, I have been experimenting with painting on wood and patchwork designs from lattice pieces. I enjoy the occasional mixed medium painting with watercolor and the use of sand for texture for more coastal paintings. I have participated in the Prairie Arts Festival in West Point, MS multiple times including 2019 in which I had over 60 pieces of artwork for sale.

MY first love is drawing and color, and my art is comprised of both. Manipulating many mediums with which I work, my drawing and color applications flourish. For example, I hand-build birds, bottles and ginger jars of clay; and draw and paint with brilliant glazes to produce one of a kind pieces. I also paint birds, trees and figures on paper, silk, and canvas. In my booth I will be displaying paintings and pottery, etc.

My husband and I are photographers creating functional art using a process called dye-sublimation. We transfer our images onto high quality USA-made raw materials such as ceramic coasters, tempered-glass cutting boards, metal ornaments, wood square magnets, etc. We complete each step of the process ourselves (taking and editing the photo, printing the photo on our dye-sublimation printer, then transferring the image to the raw material via the heat press). We are based in Austin, Texas, but we capture our customer's memories with our city-specific images which includes Starkville (and most of Mississippi). We also sell our prints which I frame in recycled vintage frame, but the majority of our booth is our dye-sublimation hand-made products.
