Jessica Hughes

Byhalia, MS

Picture
I love history and old things! The best way that I know how to preserve these things is through pictures. I love to travel to towns throughout Mississippi and just record what I see. I love the details that we often overlook. I use a Nikon D60 and D5600 to photograph my subjects. I edit these images on my computer to bring out certain colors in the subject photographed. This showcases their beauty. I then print my images in various sizes. I matt my pictures to fit standard size frames.

Dani Janus

Starkville, MS

Picture
At Dani with an i, we make hand-made buttons, magnets, keychains, stickers, and bookmarks from Dani's hand-drawn designs of popular books, shows, movies, and inspirational quotes. Our products make trendy fun collectible inexpensive gifts, accessories, and decorations. Customers may also request a customized design. Customized pieces are great for events, personal quotes, and memories! I draw my design ideas in pencil on bleed-proof marker paper, then ink them using micro line black pens. Once I have the design ready, we scan them, color and manipulate them in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Once finalized, we print them on Epson Matte presentation paper on an Epson XP-830 printer. We load the prints to cut all the circles out on a Cricut Air Explore 2. After all the circles are cut, I make the button pins, magnets or keychains on a Tecre 2.25" Button machine. For my bookmarks, I do basically the same process, I just print them on thicker cardstock type paper and laminate them with a hot press laminator, then trim them by hand.

Jeremy Murdock

Starkville, MS

Picture
Jeremy Murdock is a self-taught fine art photographer and an editorial photographer in Starkville, Mississippi. As a lifelong Mississippian, Murdock uses his photography to capture, preserve, and highlight the unique rural landscape of his home state. Although he gains a particular sense of inspiration from the rich history and culture of the Mississippi Delta, his work showcases the entire state of Mississippi. Murdock hopes that his imagery helps to preserve the unique places of the state, many of which are quickly fading away. Murdock has participated as an artisan at the Cotton District Arts Festival since 2008 offering photography prints of landmarks around Mississippi. The 2020 Cotton District Arts Festival will be his 11th year as an artisan. Murdock has also participated in the Juried Arts Exhibition for 11 straight years.
